Yes, you’ve got bills to settle. Yes, you’ve got a family to fend for. Yes, you’ve got goals to smash. Yes, you’ve got a ministry to run. YES, sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax. Surprised are you? Well, in case you missed the notification, it’s okay to take a day, shut out the world and recentre yourself.
Take some time to relax, recharge and reflect. You don’t always have to be so busy, pushing yourself so hard. Take a break from the grind and enjoy some me time. Those moments of self care will undeniably add worth, liveliness, purpose and creativity to everything you’re so busy trying to achieve.
It’s very easy to slip into the rut of relentlessly checking things off your to-do list that you forget to rest, what’s more to live. And if you keep exerting more and more of yourself without taking time to rejuvenate, you’ll find your self running on empty sooner than later. Anything you do after this point will be less than remarkable because as the saying goes “you can’t pour from an empty cup”. And that’s not a good place for a any woman to find herself in.
So why work yourself hard until you’re completely worn out? Why give of yourself until you’re completely poured out with nothing left to give when you can treat yourself to some rest so that you can offer your best self to the world? There is no honour in working tirelessly with no time out. It is not an act of humility neither is it a wise thing to do. We are all well too familiar with the downside of burn out to one’s well being.
As such, take those stipulated leave days queen. Send the little ones over to grandma’s for the weekend. Wing it once in a while. Take that power nap. Run a hot bath. Pump up that iPod. Cancel an activity. Whatever you have to do to get that occasional rest so you can have what it takes to pour out to others. You deserve to be your best self…..To give your best….The world awaits for your magic!!
