All you need to know about the Shoko Festival

August 2, 2017

We are nearing one of the biggest festivals within the country and boy, are we excited! The 7th installation of the festival will run from the 29th of September to the 1st of October. The Shoko Festival 2017 is themed “Youtopia” implying that Shoko celebrates you, your dreams and your inspirations.

Over three days, the promise of pure entertainment will be fulfilled with acts such as Emtee,  Mpo Popps, ExQ, Souljah Love,  Simba Tagz and Takura. Activities will be based at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences grounds on Rottenrow, CBD with the much loved Peace in the Hood concert in Chitungwiza.

Other international acts on the festival’s must see list include UK artiste DJ Yoda, a hip hop turntablist, and Norway spoken word musicians Taro Cooper and Julian Sommerfeld, whose presence is enabled by the Spoken Word Exchange programme between Shoko Festival and Oslo Afro Arts Festival.

Admission is $10 a day for adults and $5 per day for varsity students with varsity IDS and $5 for 2 for high school students in uniforms.

We are definitely ready for a jam packed festival! Let the wait begin.
