Makeup is not a mask Divas, it’s a form of art and more importantly – it’s a form of expression, it’s an extension of your personality. Makeup application can be a complicated business. Each one of us has our very own style and preferences but do you ever wonder if you’re actually going about your makeup application correctly? We’ve sought assistance from Mac Cosmetics to make your life easier and break down the steps involved in applying makeup perfectly. Here’s how to nail that sunless glow.
Step 1: Moisturize or apply a primer
Start by covering your face with primer. If you’re using a liquid formula, put a few drops on a sponge or your fingers.
Step 2: Eyebrows
Draw the outline of your eyebrows. Fill in the gaps using small and light strokes that resemble the length of your natural brows. With a cream concealer, apply a shade lighter underneath and above the brow coming as close as you can to the edges in the direction of the eyebrows. Next, blend the concealer thoroughly by pulling the colour to your eyes so that it looks natural.
Step 3: Eye shadow
Using your eye shadow brush, sweep your favorite base shade on your eyelid. If you want a basic everyday look, you can stop at the crease of your eye. For a more dramatic smoky eye, bring this base colour all the way up to your brow bone. With your eye open, place the colour into the crease of your eye and work down toward the lash line. Dark colours attract light, so placing a darker tone of shadow in the crease of the eye makes your eyes pop by adding depth and dimension in the exact right spot. Make your brows pop and add lift by adding a shimmery pale eye shadow or pencil directly under the brow.
Step 4: Apply Foundation
Understand Your Skin – Your skin type should determine what kind of foundation you choose. Dab the foundation on your forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks. From the center of your face, blend the makeup into your skin in a downward direction, and work your way out to the edges.
Step 5: Powder
To apply, dip a light and fluffy brush into the product, tap off the excess, and then swipe it over your face, paying special attention to the T-zone. You can also try a powder puff for increased coverage.
