The first installment of ZimWomenRoar was truly the event of 2017. It was a beautiful and magical night that came to life after many months of planning and we can safely say we are already counting down to the next one.
As we had promised, our hosts for the evening were the beautiful, vivacious and roaring duo of MisRed and Candice. The turn out of Zimbabwean men and women who came to support our event was beyond exceptional. Our guests looked glamorous owing to our aptly chosen dress code of ‘Comfort in My Own Skin: Define Your Own Beautiful.’
Special recognition was given on the night to 14 inspiring Zimbabwean women that are fiercely roaring in their spaces across all spheres – from entertainment to media, sports, business, community and technology. We took time to create unique categories to celebrate and acknowledge what Zimbabwean women are doing out there and encourage them not to stop. Our recipients and categories were as follows:
TYRA CHIKOCHO aka MADAM BOSS: Entertainment
ANGELINE VERE: Technology
RUVHENEKO PARIRENYATWA: Media
THE MIGHTY WARRIORS: Sport
SHINGI BENYU: Academia
PRINSILLA CHIBGWE: Entrepreneurship
THEMBE KHUMALO: Influencer
LEAH NACHIPO: Gamechanger
JACKIE MGIDO: Dreamchaser
FADZAYI MAHERE: Rulebreaker
EVONNE MUDZINGWA: Pacesetter
DR SANDRA SHAWARIRA-BOTE: Community Crusader
CONSTANCE MUNEMO: Inspiration
and our youngest recipient, 13 year old TANYA MUZINDA: Young Trailblazer
We took a pause to say to these 14 phenomenal women – we see you, we hear you roaring, and we celebrate you!
Our guests were well entertained by soul singer Prayer Soul, the young and roaring songstress Tamy Moyo as well as Mazwi, a choir of beautiful roaring women who performed Katy Perry’s Roar in a Zimbabwean unique and melodious style.
We would like to thank everyone who graced our event and a special thank you to our partners who walked this journey with us, Huckleberry Events, our sponsors, MBCA and Edgars, our media partner PowerFm as well as our supporting sponsors Design Essentials, Trends Hair Salon and Astro Mobile.
Until our next ZimWomenRoar event… Continue to roooooaaarr!
