The beginning of May is ever so exciting in Zimbabwe. Besides the 1st of May being a holiday, a short breather for the workers to spend the day with family and friends the always anticipated leading arts showcase, the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Hifa), begins.
Numerous captivating international activities and performances are expected to take place during the six-day event (1-6May 2018). Most of the foreign artistes have already arrived in the country. This year’s Edition of the HIFA is running under the theme; ‘We Count’.
If you have never been to this festival this year is your chance to witness master class performances from both local and international artistes. There is something for everyone at HIFA, ranging from music, dance, sculptor, theatre, film, poetry and other genres.
The opening show will include artistic performances from acrobats and puppeteers as well as jazz music. As always our local Jazz Queens Prudence Katomeni and Hope Masike are something to look out for at the festival. We are also looking forward to comedy performances from our ‘Divas Delight’ Carl Joshua Ncube along side South African comedian Nqoba Ngcobo.
